A charming and easy circular walk along the banks of the Trent & Mersey Canal.
The walk takes you along the banks of the canal, on good towpaths (suitable for small children to walk - with supervision of course) to the junction of the canal with the River Trent and the River Derwent. If you look carefully into the canal and rivers you will see the extent of the undertow, caused by the meeting of the three waters. Retracing your steps for a short distance to the last lock on the canal, you can then cross and follow a footpath across to the banks of the River Derwent. The walk then follows the River Derwent for a small section, to return via a short section of metalled road back to the canal path.
